Introduction to Landscapes We are fortunate in South Africa to have these wonderful panoramic scenes.

Their vastness, however, can often times be overwhelming. It then becomes important that I am selective with my viewpoint.

That is why I look for strong contrasts, recurring patterns, dominant colors and other unique design elements to create visually stimulating works of art.

History behind the Painting: It was definitely the magical quality of coming on this scene that had Malcolm inspired to do this painting. The play of light in various parts. The silvery, violet threads that gives the impression of this place being shrouded in mystery. And then seeing a man and his son, with a fishing rod in his hand "Walking on Water", that keeps ones attention every time you happen to look at this painting.

History behind the Painting:While making the most of the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Overberg landscape of the Western Cape, and finding Red Hot Pokers in such abundance in the area, the inspiration came for our resident Hermanus artist to capture the wonderful contrasts in light and colour that is so typical of this area. If you are looking for a little keepsake to take home with you as a reminder of your travels, then this painting is just for you!!

History behind the Painting:While enjoying a sightseeing tour of the pretty little town of Rooiels in the Western Cape, and coming across this lovely little house nestled against the Hangklip mountain, which is one of the areas local landmarks, inspiration came to Malcolm to capture the mists swirling around this beautiful scene. One can easily imagine living in such idyllic surroundings!

History behind the Painting: This painting came about during a forest hiking trail that Malcolm went on at the Carmel by the Sea Holiday Resort in George. History behind the Painting:This is a painting that Malcolm did while travelling in the UK Midlands. What inspired him to do this painting was the thick dense bush, and the reflections in the water due to the intense light shining through into the lush forest.
